Ruapehu with direct access to Turoa Ski field. It fits neatly into "The Junction" which is the hub of the social ski scene. The lodge is a short 5 minute drive to the centre of town and all other local amenities, shops and cafe's. Ohakune town attracts visitors year round to both the ski field and the World Heritage Tongariro National Park. There were around 700,000 visits by travellers to the Ruapehu area in 2008 alone with figures projected to increase over the coming years. This well established business therefore has lots to offer and also plenty of scope for further development and growth. The current owners have been successfully running the lodge, motel, bar and restaurant for over 20 years. During the ski season the thriving bar is a significant and integral part of the existing business which also offers a variety of accommodation that attracts guests with a wide range of budgets. The main bar area features a large horseshoe slate top bar, pool table area, big screen, dance floor, couches and large open fire. The Lodge is very well known, with an excellent reputation and is popular with locals and tourists alike. Many large functions are held here. There are 15 x lodge rooms providing budget style accommodation. Additionally, there are 2 good working spaces currently used as offices, one upstairs and one downstairs. There is a good stock / storeroom area with a walk in bar chiller and wash up area. The Lodge Lounge Bar & Cafe This area now features a very welcoming lounge / cafe style bar with couches and chairs by an open fire, counter style service, there is a table section area to seat up to 40 guests. Turoa Ski Lodge is renowned for its excellent cuisine, relaxed atmosphere and a roaring log fire which makes it a must place to dine while in Ohakune. The excellent location and street frontage ensure it draws in both locals and tourists alike. The cafe lounge is open 7 days a week during the winter season and available for functions, weddings and conferences all year round. The commercial kitchen with 1 walk-in chiller services the lounge bar and cafe. Accommodation The accommodation on offer provides something for every budget from basic to high end. Ohakune is a town of contrasts and excitement, with activities and adventure for everyone. During the winter, skiers and snow boarders come to enjoy the fabulous Turoa and Whakapapa ski fields of Mt Ruapehu.
In summer, guests come from all over the world to experience New Zealand's most famous walk, the Tongariro Crossing. Mt. Ruapehu also offers mountain bikers, hikers and trampers a variety of trails and the renowned 42nd Traverse.
